I have been moving, sometimes it seems like at the speed of light.

I have moved back to Seattle ;) What's ahead of me is as mysterious as traveling on a uncharted misty sea.

Summer is finally here. I have been busy playing in my garden and setting up for the farmers market. This season, I feel very aspired to be the best that I can be!

On the jewelry making side, I have taught a few classes and had so much fun meeting all the ladies learn new techniques. I started collecting inspirations and pictures of different types of jewelry types. There seems to be alot more gemstone jewelry this season, I have got to let some of my older beads go. :) The challenge is to find vendor sources to buy gemstones, while still fitting our everyday budgets.

Finally, the farmer's market has started 5/2, please come visit us every Saturday morning! ;)

Women's clothing designer starts jewelry design

MOSES LAKE - Anna He thinks women's fashion should be 80 percent function and 20 percent spice.

And she should know.

The 29-year-old fashion designer, who moved to Moses Lake in April, spent most of her life designing clothing. She worked for Eileen Fisher in New York and for Nordstrom in Seattle, until her husband started working for REC in April.

She said it is nice to take a break from the big city. She has time to work on her own projects, such as starting a jewelry design business and entering competitions.

"Now I finally have time to focus on my own designs," she said. "I never had time before because the end of the year is when you have to execute the designs for the next holiday season."

He recently was the alternate adult winner in the Washington Make It With Wool Contest, for a jacket and dress she made based off of a 1952 Butterick pattern.

"I thought it was really elegant," she said. "It was one of their best selling patterns in the 50s."

The contest, which is sponsored by the American Sheep Industry and the American Sheep Industry Women, requires people to make clothing from wool. She heard about it after she went to speak at one of their events in 2004.

"A lot of the reason for the contest is to inspire these teenage girls to sew," she said.

He is enjoying the change from Seattle and New York to Moses Lake, she said. She started designing jewelry and selling it during the farmer's market in Moses Lake and through her Web site, www.BonVogue.com.

"People all know each other, which for me is something totally new," she said. "There's a lot of culture and a lot of community here in Moses Lake."

She designs everything from earrings to necklaces, He said. Now she is accountable for more than the design - she also acts as the designer, manufacturer and salesperson. One of her customers from the farmer's market stopped to talk to her during the interview.

"Everybody needs some spice in their life," she said. "I remember which earrings she bought from me. Getting feedback like that is something new ... (Customer service) is something I really have to learn too."

He is planning on adding instructor to her resume as well. She is holding classes at Big Bend Community College in design and teaching HTML.

"There's so many hidden talents here in Moses Lake," she said. "Somebody just needs to get them out."

I am really excited to share a wonderful News. I have won the district level of the competition and will be advancing to the state competition this coming Saturday!

My husband took some pictures of me sashaying across the room. Here are two best ones. ;)

Of course I Handmade the matching jewelry to go with the retro styling.

11/2: UPDATE: I also won 2nd place at the State level. ;P thanks for all the support! This ensemble has been fun to sew and I look forward into entering next year!

There are some changes I have made from the original pattern to fit my needs.
*For the jacket:

I inserted the shoulder pad inside the lining and the shell fabric. For those who also sews, this means to leave ONE inseam of the sleeve open for the insertion.

The puffy cuffs and patch pockets are on bias. Because my fabrication is a checker plaid, cutting the parts in bias shows off the pattern and style more.

* For the dress:

I changed the pipping to be 1/4" instead of 5/8". Because of the boldness of black and white contrast, thinner pipping is a lighter look.
I also fully lined the front, and upper back of the dress.
Instead of over lapping the center front, I opted for a kissing closure.
I smoothed out and reshaped the top front of the wrapped around for a more fluid look.

Sorry that I have not been updating my Jewelry pages. I have been making new items, and they are available to purchase in the Saturday Market. Although the market season is ending on the 25th.

I am going to enter the Make It Yourself With Wool Completion this year. Sort of getting back to my roots. I have a few yards of wonderful light weight stretch wool fabric, and I am making it into these:

The jacket will be the B style, have a checker pattern to it and the dress will just be all black with white trimmings.

This set is made with Swarovski Crystals beads, spacers, and drops. 14K Gold filled Beads, and vermeil Sterling Silver findings. Vermeil is a process of gold plating, except it is much thicker than regular gold plate, so it will last much much longer.

On my birthday back in Jan.,my husband took me to a tiny bead store in Kirkland, Washington. I found these Beautiful (& pricy) chain. I could only afford 2ft of it.
So I dangled these TINY AB polished Beads on it. I think the effect is wonderful. Very delicate and did not take away the light heartedness of the chain itself. I have to think about what to make with the balance 20 inches now. ;)

Water fall earrings...

Another wire wrapping instructions, this time on a waterfall earrings. The effect of this earrings are so that the crystals look like water trickling down to the Briolette. Instructions are under cut. :) I assumed everyone know and have, wire cutter(WC), round nose plier (RNP), flat nose plier (FNP).

1, Planning, this time, planned effect is the same as the finished effect. One crystal on top, then one at the 1/3 down, and 2 at 2/3 down, and 4 at bottom of chain. Suggested materials are :
2 Earring hooks, 2" Chain, 2 Briolettes, 26GG SS wire, 16 4mm Swarovski Crystals. I would suggest the Crystals and the Briolette be contrasting color.

2, Start off by making a simple wrapped bead, and attach 2" chain on the bottom loop.

3, Briolette, insert a piece of wire, about 4 times the width of the Drop. Pinch in to form the triangle against the tip.

4, Slide on the end of the chain, and Grab Both wire with the RNP. Then Bend the wire against the plier tip.

5, Coil the wire about twice and flush cut off the tails.

6, The drops... start off by making the coiled head pin as previous tutorial. Then slide on crystal, and again, bend the wire against the plier tip to make a loop.

7, Slide on chain, then Grab the loop with FNP, and coil the tail twice to wrap.

8, This is what it should look like. Now add all the other dangles. A word of advice, your earring to look more balanced if you attach dangles to both side of the chain. So take the time to really figure out the left and right side of the chain. I used a pretty fine chain, so chain rings are small, I staggered the dangle line ups.

A simple Charmed Bracelet

This is the bracelet I have made, and decided to share the stpe by step photos with you. I assumed everyone know and have, wire cutter(WC), round nose plier (RNP), flat nose plier (FNP).

Planning, I know the layout is not the same as the finished piece. But, honestly I always plan out projects to start. At the very lease to see if my colors are all wacky.

This Bracelet uses a Dangle wrap, Briolette Wrap, and Encased Wrap.

Basic Head pin
I made my own head pins by coiling the the wire ends. See photos below.

Dangle Wrap
1, String the first dangle. Then about 1/8" away from the bead, bend wire around the RNP. Some designers bend the pliers around twisting the wire, I do the opposite. I think it is easier on the wrist on the long run.

2, After the circle loop is formed, slide the chain into to the loop.

3, Grab the loop in your FNP, and Wrap the long end around the 1/8" Stem. wrap around at lease 2 times, and cut off flush with WC. (sorry about missing the wrap picture, please reference the none matching one.)

Wrapping a top drilled bead and briolette.
1, Always use the softest 24-26GG wire for this wrap. String on the Bead and bend wire to anchor.

2, Use your finger nails to pinch in, so that the two tails meet at the middle of the bead.

3, Grab both tails w/RNP and bend wire tails around for a full loop.

4, Slid chain into the loop. Use FNP to grab on to the loop and start wrapping. Again, twice is enough. Flush cut off the ends.

Wire Encased Beads
1, Instead of leaving just 1/8" space to the loop, leave 1/4".

2, Insert the chain and grab the loop w/ FNP, Wrap twice and guide the wire down to the bottom of the bead.

3, Wrap around then guide back up, wrap another round tightly. Flush cut off excess tails.

Wrap a few more beads and ta da!!!

Of course I am talking about ice cream favors. ;) It is so hot outside, my husband and I walked to the closest Baskin Robins to justify getting something sweet.

A few ladies have come to the market and stopped at my booth to ask if I can fix some jewelry for them. one is for a stand that needs to be knotted, another for a loose bracelet that need to be redesigned. I think that is so great.

To me, not only are my craftsmanship trusted so are my style and level of taste. I think this is a great opportunity for me to establish long term clients.

I think next week, I will bring a guest book, so that people can sign up for news updates and preview my jewelry collections.

Last weekend, my husband Kelly and I were at the Columbia Basin Farmers Market again. It is normally the case that we will be there every Saturday morning.

The last Saturday, we were in a odd corner of the market, and the smell of caramel corns filled my tent. ;) Of course we couldn't resist and got some goodies.

My first market was a success! I sold many pieces, and met a few creative vendors at the market.

Thanks to Tracy, Bessi, and Madison who stopped by to say hi and took a piece of BonVogue home.

There will be many but you are amongst the first!

Not everything went as planned, but the beauty of imperfection is the element of nature, and nature is always beautiful.

I definitely hear the customer's needs and voice. This coming week will be very productive one.

So.. who loves the Sex and the City movie? ;) I certainly was ecstatic when I heard they were doing a movie. And the result is so sexy, so funny, and so very witty!

Live is not all play and no work. I had been working on the tutorial on the web design class first. To compile a 10 page booklet was more time consuming than I had expected. Thanks to Kelly who proof read it numerous times.

I think next is to set up the class plackets for the jewelry making class.

I finally met the coordinators at the Big Bend Community College, and went over more specific details of what we will teach in class.

First up is Web Design Fundamental.

I made two simple web page layouts examples for the class.

I think it will be a good balance to show students what to expect.

We also went back to register at the Farmer's Market. My projected first day is June 21st! Woot!!! I am super excited, and had been doing even more research on layouts, etc.

With some more details and price research, I brainstormed more about how I want to layout the booth. I think this layout is more realistic. But then again who knows! One of the things I have learned with my years of fashion industries is that, things can always change, upto and including the last minute. Even if it is made, delivered, as long as it is not yet at the customer's hands! :P

I started thinking about the layout of the craft table, and what I would need to set it up.

This is the layout I am thinking about.

Theme color will be Red/ fuchsia and pop color will be White.

I would need to make 4 light color mattes, buy 2 bowls, and 4 picture frames for the price signs, also, if I can find some BRIGHT color flowers. It is all about attracting attentions.

May need to sit on the idea for a bit, and then see if I will change my mind. There is no need to rush, I want to get it perfect.

Happy mother's day everyone!

So I resarched the costs to start a crafter's booth at the Farmer's Market

It takes the following to start

1, Member's fee: $35 a year
2, Table for reservation: $35 a year
3, Additional $10 for each market
4, Requirment to have a business license - already have
5, Some sort of signage - Noted that

I found the tent I needed at Costco for $191, a cheaper version of the tent at Wal-mart for $87. I am thinking of getting the Costco one, just because it looks like a better quality.

It seems the last thing I need would be tables.

I think I am getting sick... my headache is back. I think it is because I went to sleep with my hair still being wet. Still not used to the hard mattress. oh well, it is very sunny outside still.

I have submitted a course proposal to the Local College in Moses Lake, guess what? I am going to be teaching a class in the Fall. My husband teased me and called me a professor... hahaha

I will be teaching a Beginning Beading class, and a Basic web design class.

This Lariat is one of the projects in the beading class. It is easy yet very graceful.

This is a wedding wedsite I made 2 years ago for our wedding. I don't think the intro class to get to this level, but I think it will inspire student to do and learn more.

I have done these updates:

1, change the inter face
2, updated all sections - necklace, earrings, bracelet, fashion, classes, contact, and revamped the index page
3, added a smart mouse-over-zoom feature, so users no longer need to click to zoom.
4, uploaded this today

I still need to figure out the Paypal features, and 2nd page of the necklace. Meantime, I am pretty happy with what I've got. ;)
